Where we're heading

Working towards EN 1090 and ISO 9001

We're currently working towards EN 1090 and ISO 9001. These are quality and fabrication management standards, and working to them means formalising the systems we already run in the workshop: traceable material, checked drawings, controlled welding procedures, recorded inspection and testing, and a clear set of documented processes from enquiry to despatch.

We don't hold these certifications yet, and we're not going to claim otherwise. We're putting the work in because it makes us a better subcontractor to deal with, and it makes the paperwork side of a project easier for the main contractor, the architect and the client.

When that changes, we'll say so here.

01

Clear from the start

Straight conversations, readable quotes, and a shared understanding of the job.

02

Made for the drawing

We turn plans, details, and site requirements into work that is ready for its next stage.

03

Subcontractor mindset

We understand handoffs, programme pressure, and the value of being easy to work with.

04

Finish with care

Strong welds and clean fabrication are the baseline. The details are what make it fit.

A useful pair of hands

Technical work, handled practically.

RW Steel Fabrications Ltd works alongside architects, main contractors, shop fitters, bar fitters, and other fabricators who need a capable pair of hands. Whether the requirement is structural steel, a welded assembly, gates, handrails or sheet metal work, we bring the same useful approach: understand the detail, make the piece properly, and keep the project informed.

Food & hospitality trade

Commercial Stainless Steel Kitchens

In a commercial kitchen, hygiene isn't optional — everything around food prep has to be right.

We fabricate commercial stainless steel kitchen equipment and work surfaces in our Sheffield workshop — tables, worktops, sinks, splashbacks, shelving, extraction surrounds and bespoke units — made to measure for restaurants, cafés, pubs, takeaways, bakeries, hotels and canteens.

Grade 316 where it counts

For anything in and around food preparation we work to grade 316 stainless steel, because that's the grade that stands up to the job. 316 contains molybdenum, which makes it far more resistant to corrosion than standard grades, so it holds up against the constant washing, the commercial cleaning chemicals, the hot water, and the salts and acids that food prep throws at it every day.

Where a surface is permanently wet, regularly hit with cleaning chemicals or in contact with salty or acidic food, the difference shows up quickly. A surface that can't be cleaned down properly, or that starts to pit or rust, is a hygiene problem, not just a cosmetic one.

Built to be cleaned

Hygiene in a kitchen is as much about design as material. Every joint is welded and fully sealed, with no dirt traps or open seams. Corners and edges are formed so there's nowhere for food debris or bacteria to sit, with no exposed fixings where they can be avoided. Legs and feet are set up so the floor underneath can be swept and washed properly.

Every visible weld is dressed and blended, and the surrounding area is sanded with a fine-grit orbital sander so the surface is smooth, seamless and easy to wipe down — and easy to keep that way.

Made to measure

Every kitchen is a different shape, and standard units rarely fit an awkward corner, a tight galley or an extraction run. We fabricate to your sizes, so the equipment fills the space properly rather than leaving gaps that collect dirt and are impossible to clean.

We work for restaurant owners, fit-out contractors, shop fitters and kitchen installers, and we're happy to supply steelwork as part of someone else's fit-out.

Materials we work with

  • Mild steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Aluminium
  • Brass and copper
  • Corten
  • Zinc

Stainless steel kitchen work is a core part of what we do, alongside the structural, sheet metal and gates and handrails work.

Tanks made to order

Waste Oil Tanks, Bunded Tanks & Bespoke Steel Tanks

Made to measure in our Sheffield workshop — built to suit your site, your volume and what you're storing.

We fabricate steel tanks for waste oil, heating oil and other storage, along with bunded tanks that give you an integral secondary containment so any leak is caught inside the outer shell rather than running out across the yard. Every tank is made to measure, so it fits the space you've actually got rather than the space a catalogue assumes.

Waste oil tanks

Robust steel tanks for collecting and storing waste oil, sized to suit how often they'll be emptied and how much you produce.

Bunded tanks

A tank inside a tank. The outer shell holds the full contents of the inner tank if anything goes wrong, so a spill stays contained instead of becoming a clean-up job. The bund is built to hold more than the inner tank's full contents, so anything that leaks stays contained.

Bespoke steel tanks

One-offs built to your dimensions, with the fill points, outlets, lids, vents, sight gauges and access you need, and options for a lockable lid and a bunded base. Tanks can be rectangular, cylindrical or shaped to fit around pipework, walls or existing equipment.

Built for the job

Heavy-gauge steel, fully welded seams, a properly fitted lid and a powder-coated or painted finish for weather resistance. Sized, positioned and fitted around what you've already got in place.

Workshop check

Tested before it leaves us

Every tank we make is tested in our workshop before it goes out. Seams are welded and checked, and each tank is filled and checked for leaks and to confirm the fit of the lid, outlets and fittings. If something isn't right, it doesn't leave the workshop — and we'll tell you what we found, rather than sending it out and hoping.

For garages, workshops, farms, plant and tool hire, vehicle repairers, builders' yards, and businesses that need to store oil or waste oil on site. We're based in Sheffield and work with customers across the UK, and we can make a bunded base or stand to suit.

Made in mild steel as standard, with stainless steel available where the contents need it, and finished in a protective paint or coating to suit where the tank is going. Delivery is available, and we can talk through siting and connections.

Repeat work

Repeat Orders & Batch Production — 10, 100 or 1,000 Off

Plenty of our work isn't a one-off. Same bracket, same frame, same cleat, made over and over to the same drawing — and whatever the quantity, we can cope.

When a part is going to be made many times, we build a purpose-made jig or fixture first — a frame or plate that holds the parts in exactly the right place while they're tacked and welded. That's what makes every component come out square and identical, so holes line up and parts from different batches still fit together. Where a repeat run justifies it, the jig is part of the job, not an extra nobody wants to pay for.

Typical repeat work: brackets and cleats, base plates, frames and supports, railing and gate components, shelving and display frames, and sheet metal parts such as trims, covers and enclosures.

We're happy to be the subcontractor who just keeps making the part, so your own shop can get on with other work. We're based in Sheffield and work with customers across the UK.

01

10 off

A simple worked-out method and a basic jig. Enough setup to make the small run repeatable without over-engineering it.

02

100 off

Proper fixtures, batch planning and a sensible order of work, so the throughput stays steady and the parts stay consistent.

03

1,000 off

Planned as a production run rather than a pile of one-offs: material ordered in one go, parts cut in batches, welding staged so nothing bottlenecks.

How we work

Site Safety Is a Priority

Site safety is a priority — on every job, in the workshop and on site.

Every job we take on is planned with safety in mind, whether it's being fabricated in our Sheffield workshop or welded and fitted on a live site. We work for construction companies, main contractors, shop fitters and other fabricators, and we understand what working around other trades, occupied buildings and live sites actually takes.

01

Planned before we start

We look at the job, the access and the risks before anyone picks up a tool, and we raise anything that doesn't look right rather than working around it.

02

Safe lifting

Our 5-tonne overhead cranes handle heavy sections and assemblies in the workshop, so no one is shifting weight by hand. On site, we plan how steel is delivered, offloaded and moved before the day it arrives.

03

Working around other people

On fit-outs and occupied buildings we keep our work area tidy, keep walkways and fire routes clear, and make sure sparks, hot work and grinding are contained and controlled.

04

Proper kit, properly used

Correct PPE, well-maintained tools and the right equipment for the job. Cutting and grinding are done with the right guards and extraction, and hot work is carried out in line with the site's permit arrangements.

Steel in Interior Design: How to Specify Bespoke Metalwork That Looks Right and Lasts

Steel doesn't have to just be a frame or a fixing sitting behind the design. Used properly, bespoke metalwork can define a room — and the difference between metalwork that looks intentional and metalwork that looks like an afterthought usually comes down to the specification. A short guide for interior designers, architects and fit-out teams on materials, finishes, welds, fixings and shadow gaps, written by our Sheffield workshop.
